My Weekend Thoughts

My thoughts for the coming weeks ahead...

1. Inflation

In economics, you will know that inflation is normal and good for the economy.

2. Oil surge

Oil surge means that the demand is there, industries are powering at full force.

3. Credit Risk

Credit crunch, the whole world is affected by it since July. Market had started adjusting since then.

4. Overvalued Stocks

Stocks are at reasonable PER of 15.

5. Devalued US Dollar

Devalued USD not good for americans, but beneficial to asians.

6. Rowsley (Local news)

The cancellation of the solar deal is a big surprise for the market. Rowsley has been in big rally because of the deal. Still remembered Peter Lim brought Ma during the press conference to impress us that the deal could work out. The net profit reported from the sale of Eagle will not be able to offset the bad news. Now the real danger comes when Peter Lim sells all his stake in Rowsley. He subscribed to the placement at very dirt cheap price. This will be another Centillion in the making. Better avoid.

10 Minute Market Digest

Asian stocks close mostly higher but doubts remain
ASIAN stocks closed mostly higher on Tuesday with bargain hunters supporting a minor rally late in the day, but gains were less than convincing amid doubts over the US economy.
Most benchmarks suffered early losses with falls on Wall Street and persistent fears over the impact of the US subprime crisis on the broader international economy hurting sentiment.

Japanese share prices closed slightly lower on Tuesday, giving up early gains amid ongoing concerns about the fallout from the US subprime loan crisis, dealers said.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange's benchmark Nikkei-225 index dropped 19.29 points or 0.12 per cent to 16,249.63.
Chinese share prices closed mixed on Tuesday, with index heavyweight PetroChina tumbling nearly 10 percent to drag down the key Shanghai bourse 1.74 per cent, dealers said.
Hong Kong share prices closed higher on Tuesday, up 1.71 per cent, after an erratic session as property stocks drew bargain-hunting interest after losses over the past few days.
Malaysian share prices closed 0.30 per cent higher as investors returned to seek out bargains and pushed the benchmark index into positive territory.

More write-downs for S'pore banks to come: JP Morgan
'IT AINT over yet', warn JP Morgan banking analysts. In a new research note bearing this gloomy title, Mr Harsh Wardhan Modi and Mr Sunil Garg anticipate that Singapore's three local banks will have to make further provisions for the plummeting value of their debt instruments in coming months.
These instruments, collateralised debt obligations (CDOs), are packaged from sub-prime, or risky, mortgages in the United States - which sparked the global credit crunch.
Mr Wardham and Mr Garg said that the prices of asset-backed CDOs have slumped about 50 per cent since the end of the last quarter.
And the continued appreciation of the Singapore dollar may add to losses reported by local banks for the market value of US-dollar denominated CDOs.

Chinese oil companies promise more fuel amid shortages
CHINA'S two main oil companies have promised to step up diesel production, the government said Tuesday, following two weeks of shortages blamed on price controls that have disrupted trucking and caused long lines at filling stations.
The government raised diesel and gasoline prices by about 10 per cent last week to curb demand at a time when refiners say they are losing money due to controls that block them from passing on record-high crude costs to consumers. Some refiners have responded by suspending production, leading to rationing, especially in China's fast-growing south.

M'sian firm buys into S$776m Saudi port project
MALAYSIAN conglomerate MMC Corporation has signed a deal to take part in a joint venture project to develop a US$535 million (S$776 million) container terminal at Jeddah port in Saudi Arabia.
MMC said in a statement late Monday it will pay a nominal sum of US$2 to acquire City Island Holdings, which has a 20 per cent stake in the project.
The Saudi partners are Saudi Industrial Services Company, Xenel Industries Limited and Saudi Trade and Export Development Company, who collectively hold the other 80 per cent interest.

10 Minute Market Digest

S'pore's China shares suffers fallout from HK's selldown
ASIAN bourses took a beating on Monday, as Hong Kong registered its biggest single one-day loss, after China decided to freeze a proposal to allow its citizens to buy Hong Kong shares directly.
What spooked sentiment were the four conditions put forward by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao for the approval of the scheme to allow mainland citizens to buy Hong Kong shares which were so open-ended that it effectively put a freeze on the proposal.
This led to a furious selldown in Hong Kong by fund managers who have pushed up the Hang Seng Index by almost 55 per cent since mid-August, with their heavy purchases of H-shares - shares of China firms listed in Hong Kong - after the scheme was announced.

Citigroup CEO quits, bank sees US$11 billion write-off
CHARLES Prince resigned on Sunday as chairman and chief executive of Citigroup Inc, and the bank said it may suffer an US$11 billion (S$16 billion) write-down for subprime losses.
Robert Rubin, the former US Treasury Secretary, was named chairman, while Sir Win Bischoff, who runs Citigroup's European operations, was named acting chief executive.

SembCorp FX losses put hedging in spotlight
FOREIGN exchange losses by rig builders SembCorp Marine and Labroy Marine have put the spotlight on hedging practices and raised questions as to whether Singapore companies are adequately protected against a falling US dollar.
SembMarine, the world's second-largest builder of offshore oil rigs, said last week $220 million had been lost due to alleged unauthorised trades by its former finance chief. It has denied liability for the losses.
Labroy said its unrealised losses of S$209 million stemmed from contracts to sell euros and buy dollars after clinching a 284 million euro contract in March to build two vessels.

Chinese inflation to gather steam again
CHINA is far from winning its battle against inflation and prices may resume their rapid climb in coming months after a brief respite, two separate research reports said on Monday.
China's annual consumer price inflation in 2008 could leap to 7.3 per cent, its highest level in more than a decade, from 4.7 per cent this year, a Tsinghua University economic think-tank said in remarks published on Monday.

My Weekend Thoughts

1. Monday's Market
How would monday's market going to be like? I will be expecting a massive sell down in the morning. During the sell down, retailers will be busy selling and trying to stay at the sidelines. Let's see if the hedge funds might be secretly accumulating the shares from retailers who sells off. After that, we will be able to estimate the average price that the hedge funds have bought. If the prices drop to August prices, it can be considered super cheap.

2. Uni-Asia
Everyone now knows that Uni-Asia is under investigation. It may face the danger of being suspended and delisted. Monday's market opening might see a drop in price as shareholders might be desperate to sell off their holdings. When Uni-Asia was riding up fast from $0.60 to $2.50, everyone happy, nobody queried. Once it dive south to $1.80, everyone complained?

3. Baby Clownfishes
Today marks the day that both of my baby common clownfishes died. I have caught the culprit which is my adult size brittle starfish. I have decided to dispose it out of my main marine tank by tomorrow noon. I will be rescaping my aquarium too. May the clownfishes rest in peace.

Self - Reflection

Good Evening Investors,

After thinking through the processes that I have implemented on my technical trades, these are the tabulated results:

Total sold trades: 26
Losing Trades (Sold < 0.01%): 10

Case Study: Uni-Asia

Investors to note:

Today's black candlestick shows a classical bearish engulfment. It totally covered the 3 previous white candles which was also supported by the enormous amount of volume. RSI is in the overbought region.

Coincidentally, the black candle drops to $1.80, which is also the gap up on the 8th October! Does that caught your attention? That price should be the support level.

Therefore, we should see a temporary downtrend this week. Short term investors who missed the previous bull run from this counter might want to get ready your bullets and reload in the next uptrend opportunity in time to come.

15th October Quick Updates

1. Pine Agritech Limited buy at $0.44 , sold at $0.625, +42.04%

(Not comfortable holding, sold at open price.)

5. SMB United buy at $0.40, sold at $0.39, -2.5%

I sold part of my counters today to be on the safe side. Until the bad signals are gone, then I will consider jumping back to the counters.

Today's Overview

I will expecting a flat week till this coming friday. There was a sudden surge in buy-ups and what I am waiting for is a royal flush to flush out the contra players and weak holders. Some of them might still be holding tightly to their counters until the last due date before force sell begins. Chain reaction will follow up as investors will be overcome by fear.

A word of caution though:
We had the GREAT Oct 19 1987 CRASH !

Might be an inauspicious day.

Safety Margin List

What is a safety margin and how much is considered safe? Each and everyone of us have different views.

I have came up with a simple list of safety margins for those who are interested. What it means is for the amount of $xxxx invested in a particular counter, the minimum amount of percentage increment you should see as a safe exit to sell your counter without any loss, inclusive of commission fees!

Amount of $ invested , Amount of % increase(Include fees)
$1000 , 5.6 %
$1500 , 3.74 %
$2000 , 2.8 %
$2500 , 2.24 %
$3000 , 1.87 %
$3500 , 1.6 %
$4000 , 1.4 %
$4500 , 1.25 %
$5000 , 1.12 %
$5500 , 1.03 %
$6000 , 0.94 %
$6500 , 0.87 %
$7000 , 0.8 %
$7500 , 0.75 %
$8000 , 0.7 %

*These includes after deducting of commission fees ($25) and miscelleanous fees. Assuming each trade fee is $28, thus, a total fees of $56 max will be a rough gauge.

Market Overview

Today's performance proves that on my post on Thursday, September 20, 2007 was correct and I am on the right path, the bull run is still intact. But the question is, how long will this bull run lasts? When will we see the bear? No one knows for sure.
Patience only rewards the undervalued-seeking investors.

I can see that my personal profile has recovered 12% from yesterday's trade, and another 10% from today due to the buying confident sentiments returning back after the August killing.

I hope that none of you readers exit too quickly yesterday as there is still room for uptrend.

Cheers.

Stocks Note

Pointing out potential stocks,

1. Armstrong Industrial Corp Ltd
- Inverted Head & shoulder pattern formation. Possible bullish breakout at $0.455. Could be a trap too. Trade with caution.

2. Asian Micro Holdings
- Testing strength at $0.11 barrier. Once barrier broken will continue uptrend.

3. Aztech Systems
- Still on the downtrend. Do not try bottom fishing yet as chart still did not show full signal. To monitor few more days for MACD cross over although RSI shows oversold.

4. Inter-Roller Engineering
- Uptrend intact and confirmed. MACD crossing positive zone. Long-term target price $1.30.
Short-term target price $0.95.

5. Showy International
- Potential reversal to uptrend. To monitor a few days for Parabolic Sar turns green. To break $0.815 barrier to confirm uptrend.

6. Transmarco
- $0.81 good entry point to confirm uptrend. MACD crossing positive.

These are just plain guides. But extra precaution should be taken into consideration. I would suggest investors to stay at the sidelines first, until the signs are clear, consider jumping back later.

Cheers and good luck!

Today's Overview

Islandwide profit-taking and everyone panic, instilling fear.

Straits Times Index dropped 39.21 points to 3754.62, after hitting an intraday record high of 3851.88, while Hang Seng Index was shot down at 719.81 points to 27,479.94.

Chances are that hedge funds are at work, taking profits on the recent big gains on China stocks. China stocks were the big losers, as they succumbed to a second day of profit-taking, after racking up spectacular gains 3 days ago. I did a simple check on most China stocks and realised that the selldown began as early as 3.30pm. Retail investors who contra definitely included. For those who short-sell or naked short today, I will be expecting buy-ups next week.

Now is the golden opportunity for those investors who missed out in the earlier bull run to enter the market following such dips. For those who have financial difficulties to join the healthy correction, I would suggest to start investing little by little. Even if profits of a few dollars in each trade is still considered as profits!

And of course, those who join in the bull run will be rewarded eventually. On hindsight, please be extra careful of the volatile market, place your stop-loss orders, exit points and must always be prepared to cut loss (Success to investing), and exercise your own responsibilities for your trades as it is your own decision and money.

Hope that helps!

Recap

Portfolio Updates

Hi readers, just a quick recap on what were the items I had published before and pending my decisions ;

1. Pine Agritech Limited
14th September 2007
Good to buy at $0.44. Target price to sell at $0.59. Cut loss at $0.38.

Remarks: Currently trading highest @ $0.565. MACD crossing positive territory, SMA curving up, run away gap-up spotted, form new peak with exceptionally high volume! Fibonacci Retracement placed 50% at $0.47, 100% at $0.585. It will test it's strength at $0.585 barrier. If it breaks through, will expect a pullback to $0.585. If it never cross $0.59, then to sell at $0.585. Honestly, although it feels good to sell and take profit now, try to control the fear and overcome the greed !

My Call: Hold

2. Lorenzo

Remarks: Currently trading highest @ $0.135. MACD positive, RSI slightly overbought. Bollinger squeeze also seen here. Parabolic SAR still in green zone. Closing price chart shows a rebound after touching SMA at $0.125. Short-term target price @ $0.15. If barrier broken, then Mid-Long term target price revised to $0.19.

My Call: Hold

4. Progen Holdings
12th September 2007
@ $0.105 (Target price is $0.19. To cut loss at $0.075 as $0.08 is the support line. Next immediate support is $0.065)

Remarks: Currently trading highest @ $0.10. MACD showing slow yet steady crossing over to positive territory with a healthy RSI. Second round of Bollinger band squeeze sighted. Parabolic SAR in green zone. Closing price chart displaying a near-touch of the moving average. Short-term price @ $0.13. If resistant line of $0.13 broken, we shall see it touching $0.19 without any hassles.

My Call: Hold

What is Naked Short ?

Short sell not covered back on the same day = Naked Short !

If you sell a stock without owning it, and you did not buy back on the same day, you are performing a naked short. In order to fulfil the contract to deliver the shares (Known as scrips. We are using electronic system so the system is scripless), SGX have to initiate a buy in for you.

SGX will BUY-IN on T+4 11.30am and only your broker/dealer/remisier can access to that on their terminal.

The buy-in price is MAX of (T+3 close price, T+4 11.30am last done price, T+4 11.30am bid price) + 2 bids higher as penalty. If SGX still could not find a seller at that price, it will increase the bid at certain interval until a seller could be found.

For those wanting to sell to SGX in the buy-in can contact your broker/dealer/remisier to do it for you, however each time they could only process 1 counter. ONE CONDITION, your holding must be already paid up and under "free" status in CDP then you can use that to sell to SGX in the buy-in. Contra holding is not allowed. BEST still, you will get back the capital on that day rather than the T+3 or T+4.

Correction Over ?

Good Evening readers,

A message to everyone: Congratulations! Patience is the key to success!

Big Question,
Is the correction finally over? Well, based on today's performance, sighted alot of strong breakouts to form new peaks.

What we can expect the next few days:
STI slightly red due to some profit-takings.

Conclusion: Those who were still invested please continue to ride as the path will be up, up and away!

Today's Market Performance

Generally speaking, there were some profit-taking in today's market. I was surprised to see that the Penny stocks got killed relentlessly today.

I agree that riding the bull is never easy. It always has ups and downs. Life is never a single straight line. There will surely be obstacles along the way. It is more like the stormy pacific ocean. It will try to shake you off-scale, frighten you off and threaten you to jump off the boat before the stormy ride is over. The only way, maybe, is to hang on for as long as possible until the storm loses its energy. One of the costliest mistakes investors make is to mistook profit-taking for the reversal of trend.

When the market rises sharply steep, investors who entered the market earlier, will start to unload money from the market. These in turn causes short-term investors to follow the herd and cut their losses. These includes the contra players who cannot afford to hold. Chain reaction.

From my humble point of view, there will always be profit-taking. Learn to appreciate and recognise corrections. Fundamentals will not change overnight and the current uptrend is still positive at least until the Bei Jing Olympics and US General Elections are over. Ride the bull run even as the market tries to shake you off. The market will resume its upward bull run so do not panick and exit the market too early!

Hope that helps.

Back!

Hi everyone!

Oh it feels good to be back in Singapore! Well, I must say that Thailand is indeed a shopping paradise! Visited MaBongKong, ChakTukChak, Pantip, Pratunam, Platinum, PatPong, 4-Face Buddha, Floating Market and lots more. Bought tons of stuffs. I must agree that Thai massage is simply the best if compared to Singapore and BeiJing massage that I have tried before.

Okay, holidays aside.

Now that we all know Federal slashes key interest rate by half a point to 4.75% to ease tight credit. It may be the last good news. Starting from today, all the bads news may start to spit out one by another. Blue Chips moved today but not the Penny stocks, disappointing.

There are 2 possible outcomes:
1) Penny stocks will rally only after Blue chips rallied.
2) Blue chips rally to peak, followed by a big selldown for mass killing!

Lets observe the market for the next few days.

Holiday Trip

Good Bye Gals and Guys,

I'm leaving for a short holiday trip today and will return to Singapore on 18th September. Taking my profits from my previous trades for a wild shopping spree. Good luck to those who are still trading in this volatile period.

What is Warrant ?

A derivative security that gives the holder the right to purchase securities (usually equity) from the issuer at a specific price within a certain time frame. Warrants are often included in a new debt issue as a "sweetener" to entice investors.

The main difference between warrants and call options is that warrants are issued and guaranteed by the company, whereas options are exchange instruments and are not issued by the company. Also, the lifetime of a warrant is often measured in years, while the lifetime of a typical option is measured in months.

What is Initial Public Offering (IPO) ?

The first sale of stock by a private company to the public. IPOs are often issued by smaller, younger companies seeking capital to expand, but can also be done by large privately-owned companies looking to become publicly traded.

In an IPO, the issuer obtains the assistance of an underwriting firm, which helps it determine what type of security to issue (common or preferred), best offering price and time to bring it to market.

Also referred to as a "public offering".

IPOs can be a risky investment. For the individual investor, it is tough to predict what the stock will do on its initial day of trading and in the near future since there is often little historical data with which to analyze the company. Also, most IPOs are of companies going through a transitory growth period, and they are therefore subject to additional uncertainty regarding their future value.

Millionaires' ranks exceed 2,000 for the first time

Millionaires' ranks exceed 2,000 for the first time
Goh Eng Yeow

Sat, Sep 08, 2007
The Straits Times

THE ranks of people in Singapore earning at least $1 million in a single year have grown to record levels, due to a buoyant economy and strong stock market.

The latest figures from the taxman show the number of these million-dollar earners crossed the 2,000 mark for the first time in 2005.

There were 2,121 of them at the end of that year, with 383 millionaires having joined the exclusive club.

That is an even bigger jump than the 368 new faces earning the magic seven-digit figure annually who joined the club during the heady days of 2000, when the stock market was caught up in a dot.com frenzy.

Most of the millionaires are residents here, meaning that they live in Singapore for at least 183 days a year. Only 31 are non-residents.

All in, they paid $682 million in taxes, or 14.5 per cent of all personal tax collected for income earned in 2005, or in the year of assessment 2006.

Data from the taxman also shows that takings of personal income tax, as at March 31 this year, rose to $4.7 billion. This is tax assessed on income earned in 2005 and paid the next year. This was up from $4.33 billion the year before. But given the strong economy, this is not surprising.

In 2005, the Straits Times Index surged 14 per cent, continuing an uptrend which started in 2003 when Singapore recovered from a number of body blows, such as Sars and the bursting of the dot.com bubble.

That year also saw the listing of 67 firms on the Singapore Exchange.

Data released by the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore also shows that total taxes collected hit $22.86 billion in the year ended March 31, up 15 per cent from the year before.

Corporate tax made up the biggest slice of the pie, climbing to $8.48 billion from $7.34 billion.

The biggest corporate taxpayers came from companies in the wholesale and retail trades, which paid a total sum of $2.01 billion.

This was followed by firms in the financial sector, which paid $1.93 billion in taxes, and manufacturing companies with $1.72 million in tax bills.

Still, this is hardly surprising. Of the 374 listed companies with Dec 31 year-ends which reported results for 2005, 310 were profitable with just 64 in the red. These listed firms earned a staggering $19.96 billion, up 13.9 per cent.

The data also showed that the takings from other forms of taxes were also up for the period under review.

Collections from goods and services tax rose from $3.82 billion to $3.98 billion, while property tax takings were up from $1.83 billion to $2.01 billion.

Durai secures $25,000-a-month CEO job in Abu Dhabi

FORMER National Kidney Foundation chief executive TT Durai - who was sentenced to 3 months' jail in June for deceiving the NKF, but is now appealing his conviction - has secured a new high-paying job.

The 59-year-old has accepted the position of CEO of a new subsidiary company under Singapore-based real estate management firm Property Facility Services (PFS) - a job which will pay him $25,000 a month.

After the conclusion of Durai's appeal and possible sentence, he will be based full-time in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This revelation came to light in Durai's affidavit tendered to the High Court on Friday morning during his request for permission to travel overseas while out on bail.

New pay, new perks

In a offer letter signed by PFS chairman Dr Albert Hong and director Dr Shaika Al Maskari dated 21 June this year - ironically, the same day Durai was sentenced to jail - PFS told Durai that he would also be paid a 15 per cent share of the new subsidiary company's annual net profits.

This new Abu Dhabi firm will be sponsored by Tricon Healthcare, a member of the Tricon group.

Durai's contract is scheduled to run for 5 years from 1 August. Some of his duties - to help PFS provide healthcare services, human resource consultancy, manpower recruitment and other business development projects in the Middle East region.

Besides the $25,000 monthly pay and a share of profits, some of Durai's other perks include housing expenses, the use of a company car and a reimbursement of his travel, accommodation and entertainment expenses.

Durai accepted PFS' offer on 27 August.

Can you start work now?

His lawyer also included in his affidavit a separate letter by PFS dated 13 August, informing Durai that it wants him to start work in Abu Dhabi "as soon as possible" - pending the outcome of his appeal.

In fact, until his appeal is settled, Durai's new employers have told him his immediate services are "required" in the UAE for at least 7 days straight every month, during which he would be paid a pro-rated salary.

The court granted Durai's request to travel to the UAE, with his $100,000 bail to remain.

"Confident" of appeal success

Durai also said in his affidavit that he feels upbeat about his chances in his upcoming appeal against his conviction and 3-month jail term - arguing that this means he has no reason to flee the country.

He wrote: "I am advised by my Counsel and verily believe that there are good prospects of appeal against my conviction... I am confident of my prospects of success."

Case Study: Liang Huat Aluminium Ltd (Share Consolidation)

Listed on SGX Mainboard since 17 June 1994, Liang Huat Aluminium Ltd manufactures aluminium extrusion and glass processing, distributes metal and glass products. The Group is also engaged in property development.

27th August 2007: Currently Trading @ $0.04 . Executing Share Consolidation on 28th August (Every 10 shares become 1). So automatically, the price would become $0.40 tomorrow.
28th August 2007: Market opens at $0.25 instead of $0.40, eventually it closes at $0.12.

So, assuming you had 100 lots @ $0.04 before consolidation, you had $4000 in Liang Huat.
After consolidation, you are suppose to have 10 lots @ $0.40, which is $4000.
But when market ends at 28th August @ $0.12, your net worth is now $1200.

Conclusion: Share Consolidation does not mean it is an advantage. In fact, at today's unstable market with the US subprime issue, prices that fell after consolidation is a very terrible outcome.

Could the management of the company be encountering some problems?

Good Luck to those who invested in it.

A normal Singaporean has only 35 years of "working life" in average (Assuming started working at the age of 20 and retires at 55). Take this golden opportunity to accumulate your wealth of savings.
1) Make full use of your CPF (Use it as housing loan etc)
2) Increase your resources that will yield you your well-deserved paychecks!

Resources including:
1) Premium insurances (This had got to start very young because the costs will increase with your age)
2) Property investments
3) Stock investments
4) Unit Trusts/ Fixed Deposits
5) Bonds
and the list goes on...

Financial Freedom

Knowledge is POTENTIAL power. Knowledge is only power when APPLIED.
Example: You know that exercising is good for your health yet you do not exercise.

Money comes and accumulates in quantity to any person who save at least 25% of his/her earnings (Your very First step to Financial Freedom).

There are only 3 Cashflow Scenarios:
1) You spend more than you earn: This person has negative cashflow, spending future money and likely to end up owing money (Example: Banks, Credit cards, Loan sharks, family, relatives & friends).
2) You spend all that you earn: Whether this person is earning SGD$500 a month or SGD$50,000 a month, he/she is still "Just broke".
3) You spend less than you earn (Example: Saving 25% or more of your earnings). As time goes by, this person will automatically get richer and richer. “Every dollar you earn, do not spend more than 30cents” .

So which cashflow scenario do you want to choose for yourself?

If you become the “wise master” of money, you can make money work for you. (Note: YOU are the Master, money is YOUR slave.)

Growing Your Wealth

If you have 10 beans, you cook all the beans and eat. In the end, you left with nothing.

If you cook 5 beans and let the remaining 5 to grow, in the end you will have more and more beans to eat. You will enjoy watching it grow, knowing that you have future beans to spare for a rainy day.

The Art of Borrowing

As life closes in on someone who has borrowed far too much money on the strength of far too little income, there are no fire escapes.
-John Kenneth Galbraith (Quote)

Face the fact!
Money-Lenders are most willing to loan you more than is good for you and your family. Mortgage banks and credit-card issuers do not care if your monthly installment makes it impossible for you to clear away your debt in your life-time. You need to set your own rules, including:

NO Credit-card debt. It is never okay to borrow for personal enjoyment and entertainment.

Borrow only to purchase assets that appreciates in value. House? yes! Education? sure! Holidays, luxurious meals or even a 40-inch plasma HDTV? No way!
